Strawberry Basil Spritz (Alcoholic + Mocktail Version)

Blend fresh strawberries and aromatic basil with your choice of prosecco or sparkling water for a refreshing spritz that can be either boozy or alcohol-free.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries hulled and quartered
  • 8-10 fresh basil leaves plus extra for garnish
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 cups crushed ice
  • 1/2 cup vodka omit for mocktail
  • 1 bottle prosecco or sparkling water for mocktail, chilled
  • 4 slices of lime for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Toss the strawberries with sugar and let sit for 5 minutes.
  • Muddle the sugared strawberries and basil leaves in a cocktail shaker.
  • Add vodka (or omit for mocktail version).
  • Add crushed ice, cover the shaker, and shake well.
  • Strain the mixture into four glasses.
  • Top each glass with prosecco or sparkling water.
  • Stir gently with a long spoon or swizzle stick.
  • Garnish each glass with a slice of lime and a sprig of basil.

Notes

Add a dash of strawberry syrup if the strawberries lack sweetness. Pre-mix the ingredients but add prosecco or sparkling water just before serving to keep it fizzy.
