Notes
Now, margaritas are a beloved drink all around the world, but what makes this one unique is the addition of fresh cucumbers and a kick of heat from jalapenos. The combination of flavors is incredibly refreshing, making it the perfect drink to enjoy on a warm day.
To start, I like to use fresh, crisp cucumbers that are in season. If you’d like to go the extra mile you can peel and seed the cucumbers before using them in the cocktail to remove any bitterness. I also suggest muddling the cucumbers to extract as much juice as possible, which will infuse the cocktail with its delicious flavor.
Next, we add the heat. Jalapenos are the perfect choice for this recipe, but be sure to remove the seeds and membranes if you prefer a milder cocktail. I like to muddle the jalapenos along with the cucumbers to infuse their spice into the drink.
Of course, we can’t forget the star of the show – tequila! I recommend using a high-quality, silver tequila to really let the flavors of the cucumber and jalapeno shine through. A splash of lime juice and agave nectar round out the drink and provide a touch of sweetness.
Finally, we add a rim of salt to the glass for the perfect balance of flavors. I like to use a mix of coarse sea salt and chili powder to complement the heat in the drink.
In summary, the Spicy Cucumber Margarita is a perfect balance of fresh, spicy, and sweet flavors. It’s a perfect drink to enjoy on a warm day or to serve at your next party. Salud!
